From the East ...
I
was walking in the woods yesterday and I came across a glass jar. On the glass
jar it read “Presto Supreme Mason” and it got me thinking what a Supreme
Mason would be. To me it is a Mason who goes that extra mile to help his lodge
and his follow Brother. The one you can count on to help you lean your digress,
floor work and lectures. The Masons that raises funds, maintains the building
and grounds and brings new members it. I could go on and on, but the bottom line
is, a Supreme Mason is an active Mason.
We would like to welcome our newest Entered Apprentice Brother Patrick
Hinckley and his family to our lodge. We
also have two petitions to ballot on at our March meeting.
If you didn’t make it to our family night in January and February you
missed out on two great meals. Jan.
was clam chowder cook by W.B. Bill Wilson and ham chowder cook by W.B. Eric and
Ann Berman. Feb. was taco soup cook
by yours truly. Our March family
night will be on the 19th it is our annual Audubon Park Masonic
Foundation Irish Celebration. Grand
Master, Gale H. Kenney will be attending the dinner.
If you need tickets call Eric Berman @590-9001.

"I
am closing my address with a confession. Since
becoming a Freemason, I forgot hate. Instead, I learned to love - to love God and my fellowman.
I am now at ease with my own conscience. I only do what I think is right, and
shun all evil. I also forget fear. I can be alone no matter where I am,
what I do, or where I go. A clean
conscience makes a man brave. I hope that Freemasonry has had the same influence upon
all of you, which is an assurance of a better world to live in, and a happier
humanity to live with."

From the West...
Here
it is March already, and Grand Lodge is looming in near future! That means that
the Stated meeting for June will be later in the month than normal, but the work
still has to be done. Not just work around the Lodge keeping it in presentable
shape, but work on our proficiency and floor work. As with all things that
matter, we need to practice and care about what we do. A Lodge is known by it
Brethren, its philanthropy, and its floor work. Have you gone visiting and
noticed the differences in the Lodges with their floor work and memory work.
That is because some care about it, and others “go with the flow”. We are
not, and have never been, one of those that “go with the flow”. The
Worshipful Master has set aside the first Monday of the month for practice, and
we need to make an effort to be there. Sure, there may be times we can’t make
it due to other commitments, but we
From
the South...
It
seemed like yesterday the celebration of the New Year and new decade took place.
However we are in the third month of the year. Being in the South it is my
responsibility to observe the time. Time moves past us at a rapid rate if we
don’t take the effort to observe it. We should take the opportunity to be
aware of what is happening around us as well as to us. See who or what is making
an affect on our lives. We as Freemasons have the opportunity to make an
impression on our environment as well as those who occupy it. The drama and
history shared with a new candidate leaves a lasting impression. Our history can
be shared with those who have an attraction to our Fraternity. We currently have
one new candidate pursuing accomplishment in his first degree. I have been
informed that there are two more candidates who wish to become Freemasons as
well. It appears that sharing our awareness and passion for our fraternity an
interest can be created in others. Presently we all should be working toward our
fraternity’s continued growth.

Were you aware as members of
Audubon Park Lodge 272, you are automatically members of our Foundation and
We attempt to make our members aware of the reason why the Foundation is involved in selective fund raising efforts. Past activities included appeals, letters, sustaining membership, raffles, dinners & dances. There are very few alternatives available to us to reach our goal.
During this past year we have received
60 donations (Masons and Non Masons) for $3,878. Over the past 20
years we have received 761 donations (cash or services) totaling $119,346. They
range from a few cents in a Serendipity Jar from a grade school student to
bequests of $10,000. Many donations were in the $10, $15 and $20
range and these Brothers were consistent in donating. Please remember
donations regardless of the amount are always welcome. On
Over
the years many of our Brothers and Sisters have entered the Celestial Lodge and
when I review the names I try to remember a little of each one. When
I communicate with our Corporate Attorney, he encourages us to hasten our
efforts by attracting larger donation from Lodge Brothers through Honorariums,
Memorials, Life Time Gifting and Bequests. Annually I make several
donations and underwrite many of the expenses of the programs we chair.
At the Corned Beef Dinner our family will make a Memorial Donation in memory of
